Georgia mountains black bear hunt september 2023
Jerry Russell will lead this public-land hunt in September. You will learn how to do it from an expert in bowhunting mountain black bears but you had better be in shape. The key is to find the right elevation where the white oaks are producing and be willing to get there for spot/stalk or to hang a stand on a tree that’s dropping akerns. Pro tip1: do NOT trash talk the Georgia Bulldogs football team or you will be sitting the stand next to the outhouse! Pro tip 2: did I mention that you need to be in very good physical condition??? This hunt is already full, sorry, but you can contact Jerry at stickbowjerry@hotmail.com for more details or to get on the back-up list.

Land-Between-The-Lakes Hunt in Kentucky
september 30-october 6, 2023
Here is the LD on the Land Between the Lakes hunt for 2023. When: Sept. 30- Oct. 6. This is a Saturday thru the following Friday. For the cabin guys, check in will be Saturday the 30th after 3 PM. Check-out will be the following Saturday by 12AM. You do not have to be here the entire time. Some guys come in mid-week or leave a few days early due to work schedules. The cost for the cabins will be the same however, $180.00 for the week, per person. This is for 3 people per cabin.
Where: The LBL is located between Kentucky and Barkley Lakes. There is over 160000 huntable acers located in Kentucky and Tennessee. The LBL website www.landbetweenthelakes.us. Please look at this. In the Hunting link, look for the Deer Hunting Fact Sheet and General Hunting Regulations.
Campgrounds: Most of us will be staying in Energy Campground. The cabins are in Area B. Tent and campers are all other areas. Area A is the best option for tents and campers during the LBL hunt. There are campgrounds in Tennessee as well that have been used by the Tennessee hunters in the past. I’m not familiar with these or the cost of Tennessee licenses.
Comfort: The cabins are very nice. They will sleep at least 5, but I will try to only put 3 people per cabin. There may be a few cases of 4 per cabin. There is a centrally located pavilion for cooking and gathering.
Payment: In the past I was able to use Pay Pal, however due to new tax laws and hacking troubles, this option is now unavailable. Cash or checks are the only way I can accept money. I hope this is not a problem. I will require the full amount on or before March 15th as I will have to reserve all the needed cabins by April. This payment is non-refundable. It will be everyone’s responsibility to find a replacement for themselves, if they need to cancel and want their money returned. My address is now 131 Creekwood Drive Griffin, GA 30223
Cost: The cabins as of right now, will cost each of us $180.00. With this I will provide all the paper plates, eating utensils, paper tows, garbage bags, etc. A Non-resident Kentucky Annual Hunting License and a set of Deer Tags is around $365. Also, a $25 LBL hunting permit is required for all hunters. License and tags are available on the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife web site (fw.ky.gov/pages/default.aspx). The LBL permit might be available at the same site or on the LBL web site (www.landbetweenthelakes.us). Also, the LBL permit can be obtained in the LBL at the Welcome Stations or the Planetarium.
Tents: Most of the above info concerns staying in the cabins. If a person is wanting to tent camp or bring a camper, there are areas very close to the cabins, just for tents and campers. Anyone is welcome to stay in these areas if they choose.
This hunt is available to all PBS members. The cabins are going to be open to all members but previous hunters will have the first chance at them as we are limited to about 33 guys. This number may also vary due to cabin availability. Don’t let the big number of hunters stop you from participating. Think of this as a PBS get together, with the chance to hunt. Also, as previously mentioned, there’s plenty of room to hunt. Please email me with questions or to join in. My email is markhw19@yahoo.com. email, any questions.
