PBS 2026/2027 Youth Hunt Program General Information
- Program coordinators are Jeff Holchin from NC ([email protected] and 828-303-6120) and Josh Ouellette from VA ([email protected]) and 540-312-9909). If you are a PBS member and want to help or even host a youth hunt, please contact Jeff and Josh.
- Youth hunters and parent/guardian must be PBS members. Youth can join the new PBS Young Bowhunters program for $10/year and parents/guardians can join as Associate Members for either $25 /(digital magazines) or $35 (paper magazines).
- The various Youth Hunts will be posted on the PBS Website (www.professional bowhunters.org) and in the PBS magazine. Each listed hunt will have an ID #, host name and contact info, the state where the hunt will be held, animal(s) to hunt, hunt dates, the limit of youth hunters (usually 2 or 3), and special requirements/limitations. For example, one youth hunt will only accept NR youth hunters.
- Youth hunters will be expected to have bows that are appropriate for the animal to be hunted and to be proficient with the gear. Trad bows and compounds are fine to use.
- Most hunts will be weekend hunts with a limit of 2-3 youth hunters – the goal is to provide a variety of short youth bowhunts across the country that are easy to host and easy to attend and have fun, with a legit chance at tagging an animal.
- The general process will be to select one or more hunts of interest, fill out an application and submit it to Jeff and Josh, who will review the application and forward it on to the selected host(s). The host will have final say on which applicants to accept; once a youth is accepted to a specific hunt, the host and hunter will take it from there, to coordinate their participation in the youth hunt. The youth hunter and parent/guardian will need to sign a form releasing the PBS and the host from any liability related to the hunt.
