I was born and raised on a small farm in central Wisconsin where some of my earliest memories are of hunting, fishing and playing in the woods. I began bowhunting at 12, but with no bowhunters in my family, the learning curve was rather steep, and I didn’t get my first deer until I was 16. From that point, there was no looking back! Bowhunting has been an important part of my life, introducing me to many wonderful people, and traveling to incredible places. I’ve carried my bow in 20 states, 6 Canadian Provinces, Mexico and South Africa, bringing home a few animals along the way.
My wonderful wife and bowhunting companion, Ginger, and I met in 2004, and she took to the adventurous outdoors immediately. In 2007 we bought a ranch in western North Dakota to fuel our bowhunting habit and guide other bowhunters. In 2012 we left the land of Teddy Roosevelt and moved to our place in north central Nebraska. While mostly retired and enjoying our place, I do blacksmithing out of my shop, Crossfire Forge. Of utmost importance to us is to focus our lives on following Jesus Christ.
I was a member of PBS back in the 80’s, but for some reason drifted away before rejoining in about 2014. This time around, we began to attend PBS gatherings and learning to appreciate the camaraderie of a group of like minded bowhunters. The “Knowledge Through Experience” and fellowship components of PBS are really what set it apart from most other organizations. Throughout the organization there is a true desire to share campfires and the accompanying stories with other. There just isn’t a better group of people.
