Pacific Region
Region Rep MIKE HARRIS
|
Mike serves as the Pacific Region Representative for PBS. His interest in traditional bowhunting began at a young age, shaped in large part by mentorship from the late Larry Fischer, along with inspiration from bowhunters such as Jay Massey, Howard Hill, and Glenn St. Charles, whose writings and films helped form his appreciation for the history and values of the sport.
Mike grew up in Idaho and later made his way to the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska, where he now lives while dividing his time between Alaska and north-central Idaho. He has hunted with a longbow since the age of eight and, in recent years, has focused on shooting and hunting in the Howard Hill style, which he has followed exclusively since 2021. A member of the Professional Bowhunters Society since 2019, Mike is also involved in bowhunter advocacy as the Legislative Vice President of the Alaskan Bowhunters Association. He works seasonally as a hunting guide and hunting dog trainer. Mike is married to his wife, Sara, and together they are raising their son, Will, who is beginning his own journey in the outdoors. Mike strongly believes in limiting the role of technology in hunting and preserving the satisfaction that comes from fair chase, woodsmanship, and personal responsibility in the field. He hopes to encourage others to slow down, rely less on shortcuts, and rediscover the deeper rewards of traditional bowhunting. Mike enjoys pursuing a wide variety of game, from the whitetail deer and cottontail rabbits of the eastern states to the moose and brown bears of Alaska. He is committed to representing PBS members in the Pacific Region with respect for the traditions and values of bowhunting.
